Single-Use Plastics to Full-Circle Use

This video provides a good example from Europe how we can execute going full circle with short term use packaging materials.

Single and short-term use packaging materials are typically turned into some type of durable good (e.g. decking, pipes, outdoor furniture), while this is a perfectly appropriate use for recycled plastics it also means that new packaging containers are typically still made from virgin resins. The video describes the entire value and process chain to go full circle on packaging materials using a highly automated process that includes at the starting point (the waste bag) 30 sorting steps.

The savings in Greenhouse gas emissions can be up to 90% in addition to addressing the plastic waste crisis and turning this valuable material into valuable products over and over.
