Great Consumer Products made from Post-Consumer Plastic - Trash Bags - PART 2 OF 4

Of the estimated 6 Billion pounds of trash bags made every year in the USA, most contain only a small amount of post-consumer resins (PCR). At the same time we have billions of pounds of used shopping bags available, which for the most part are not accepted by curbside recycling programs in the USA.

More Recycling (www.morerecycling.com) did recently some data crunching and calculated if we just used 30% of PCR content in each trash bag we would put back into the product loop 1.8 Billion lbs. of used film/bag materials and as an additional side benefit these 30% saves about 810,000 tons of CO2 emissions. Using Post Consumer Recycled materials instead of virgin resins not only helps to resolve our waste issue, but reduces greenhouse gas emissions.

The post-consumer plastic trash bags pictured above is made in Austria, produced from 100% recycled post-consumer plastic, coming from the USA. From trashed bag to trash bag - we don't have to ship the material across the Atlantic, this could be made right here, the technology is available.
