PE Films Recycling Becomes More Convenient

Wednesday, 03. August 2022

The market for PE Films recycling is growing rapidly. In fact, the global R-PE (Recycled- Polyethylene) market is expected to grow from USD 11.25 billion in 2020 to USD 24.44 billion by 2028, at a CAGR of 10.16% during the forecast period 2021-2028.

In our article, Plastic Films and Bags Can be Recycled, we note that while recycling thin plastic films such as those used in what are traditionally single-use grocery bags is a challenge, these products can efficiently be recycled.

Systems are improving in the US for closing the loop on recycling thin-film PE bags. Grocery stores are stepping up and becoming collection points for consumers to drop used bags off to be made into new PE products.

The Drop-off Directory lets consumers locate nearby plastic bag drop-off spots for recycling collection. Retailers as large as Walmart are convenient drop points for used bags. Take a look and see if there's a spot near you!
